Surgery in connection with COVID-19 vaccination
For major surgical procedures, COVID-19 vaccination can be given no later than 1 week before or no earlier than 1 week after surgery. That also goes for the 4th vaccination.
Surgery after detected COVID-19
If you have had a COVID-19 infection with significant symptoms, we would like you to contact us so that we can plan your course. Significant symptoms may be:
- Fever for several days
- Affected general condition
- Difficulty breathing or prolonged coughing
- Has been hospitalized
- Following the infection
There is a higher risk of complications after operations in the first weeks after the end of the COVID-19 infection. The health authorities therefore recommend that you postpone your operation under full anesthesia. A minimum of 7 weeks' postponement is recommended after the end of COVID-19 infection with significant symptoms. Assessment of when the course can be completed in that case is an individual and a medical assessment.
If you have had a COVID-19 infection with no or mild symptoms, you can undergo surgery when you are out of isolation and completely well.
